Some economists, like  Stefano Bartolini and Luigui Bonatti in Environmental and social degradation as the engine of economic growth, Ecological Economics, 2002, vol. 43, issue 1, 1-16 contends that GDP is far from measuring real improvements in human condition. More broadly, aren’t traditional econometric tools out-dated in order to give an accurate account of the value created by labor, given the outstanding transformation of the economies and societies?
