Considering that data is one of the most valuable resources in the information society, feeding algorithms with very practical consequences,
Considering also that access to data is now partially regulated and accepted as a principle, especially when it concerns data collected by administrations and governments (G8 Open Data Charter – 2013).
What about data collected by businesses, still considered as a monetary good, with opaque visibility on how they are collected, what are they used for and to whom, they are sold.
Why this difference of treatments? What justifies it? To what extent, could we have more control on the data hold by GAFA and the others?
- the way it is collected
- what is considered valid data
- What are the applications made from it (or what data for what applications)?
